My Remarks about ACA at The Hispanic Leadership Council Forum on February 4th, 2016

At this year’s Hispanic Leadership Council Candidate Forum in Abilene, TX, the question: “According to the U.S. Census Bureau Texas is the uninsured capital of the United States. More than 5.04 Million Texans – including 784,000 children – lack health insurance. Since Texas has chosen not to expand Medicaid or participate in the setting up a state network for providing coverage with the Affordable Care Act, what can the State Legislature do to help more Texans become insured?” The above audio, w/ picture, is the response Pierce LoPachin (D-Abilene), running for State House District 71, explained to the audience.

The Expansion of Medicaid

Great article about a Republican Governor that Expanded Medicaid. Watch John Oliver explain why it’s important to vote for leaders that will expand Medicaid. That will be on my agenda when I’m in the House. Always encouraging Governor Abbott to expand Medicaid.

Planned Parenthood

Great Article

Planned Parenthood deserves to be funded, for the following reasons:

-Affordable Pregnancy Care (Planned Parenthood is there for you from the moment of conception to the moment of birth and after care as well.)
-Affordable Pap Smear and Pelvic Exams to Screen for STDs, STIs, and Pre-cancerous cells
-Vaccines to Prevent Cervical Cancer
-Affordable Mammograms for Early Detection of Breast Cancer
-Affordable and Accessible Contraceptives

And so much more….Click on the link above to read a great article about how and why Texans should fight to keep Planned Parenthood funded. I will fight to re-instate Planned Parenthood in the Texas Legislature so all Texans have access to affordable family care.
